Volunteer
The Central Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (COBIDA) needs volunteers interested in helping us spread the word about Dyslexia in Ohio.
We need you to help us to increase our visibility by distributing information about:
COBIDA and IDA, who we are, what we do and how people can join and/or get involved in our organization. We will be passing out basic information about dyslexia and our organization. People will also have an opportunity to make a button to show their support for our cause. Donations will help to pay for future COBIDA events and activities. The Dyslexia Awareness Day Rally to be held on the South Lawn of the Ohio Statehouse on October 1. The purpose of this rally is to garner support for dyslexia legislation in Ohio that will insure early identification and intervention for at-risk students and dyslexic. We will have petitions to sign/mail to legislators and opportunities to "tell your story" about dyslexia.
"Imagine! Every Child Reading" a spring reading conference to be held on March 12, 2011 at the Fawcett Center on The Ohio State Campus. The all day conference for teachers, parents, administrators and dyslexia professionals will feature national speaker and co-creator of The Children of the Code website, David Bolton who will present an all day workshop on evidence-based reading for students at-risk for reading failure.
A 5K Dyslexia Dash at Glacier Ridge Metro Park on October 6. This annual fundraising event is not only destined to be loads of fun but all contributions will be used to support our mission: to increase awareness of dyslexia and related learning difficulties; to assist professionals, dyslexics and their families; to promote use of effective teaching methods; and to disseminate research-based knowledge through the early identification of dyslexia, professional development and community partnerships.
Anyone interested in participating in the Central Ohio Branch of The IDA is most welcome. If interested, please fill out the volunteer form
